It's official. Our doors are
open again this summer!
Come take a workshop in our
Portland, Oregon studio!
Before Klum House was an online shop, before we wrote our first pattern, there was a chalkboard paint-covered table in Ellie's basement where students would gather to learn the craft of bag making. Today we are thrilled to be able to offer in-person workshops once again, this time in our beautiful 3,000 square-foot warehouse space! Tall ceilings, lots of natural light, inspiring murals, every tool you could need at your fingertips, and bubbly water for days—the ultimate Klum House experience. We can't wait to make with you!

BAG MAKING
An online course with Ellie Lum
Coming in May 2022
Ellie Lum is probably the best bag making teacher you will find. Her spoken and written instructions and explanations are crystal clear, as are her patterns. She makes it possible to create something that you might otherwise have though was not possible for you.
Great experience. I enjoyed every second and am much more confident in my abilities than I was going in. Total game changer.
I was one of the slower makers, but Ellie was so patient walking us through the whole process, especially the tricky bits. I love how she explains things, anticipates common mistakes, and helps you problem solve.
Here’s what you can expect from a Klum House workshop:
Teaching is at the heart of everything we do. Every one of our projects is designed with your education in mind. With over fifteen years of teaching experience, and a degree in adult learning theory, you’re in very good hands!
We want all of our students to feel fully taken care of from the moment they walk through our doors. All of your materials will be cut, prepped, and waiting for you at your making station. You’ll have full access to our sewing machines and tools.
No one has ever left a Klum House workshop without a finished project—a fact we take great pride in! Our projects are tested, tried, and true. You can rest assured that if you come out for a workshop, you’ll leave with a finished bag.
Our beautiful, 3,000 square-foot warehouse space is an awesome place to learn. It’s both industrial and cozy, with high ceilings, lots of natural light, plants, art, and every tool you could need, at your fingertips. Come see for yourself!
See you soon!
