Bakelite Mallet

I like this mallet a lot, it is a great weight and comfortable to use. I'm not a super experienced maker/crafter so don't have many tools to compare it to, but think this works better than a hammer for setting rivets and punching holes with the drive punch (and glad it should not damage the strike posts).

I save where I can so have been using a hammer and small leather crafting mallet, the kind with the cylindrical white head, and thought hard about investing in this Bakelite mallet.
The weight of the head on the downstroke really takes a lot of the work out of the swing. It was also less jarring than when using a metal hammer. If you think you’ll be doing more of this type of bag construction then I really recommend it!

I really like these wood mallets. My second one. The first one is getting a bit loose on the head from much use. They last a good while

This hammer is great for anytime you need to set eyelets, rivets or fashion snaps without harming the setter or materials. The weight of this tool is just what is needed. Every serious crafter needs this tool.
