The Naito is a pocket-filled bucket bag that converts from tote to crossbody sling with the pull of a strap! This intermediate-level project is a versatile sewing adventure that combines style with functionality.

Who is it for?
Calling all pocket lovers, organization nerds, and makers! The Naito is perfect for stitchers who want to level up their skills while creating a bag that's as adaptable as they are. Knitters love it for toting their WIPs around town. Whether you're juggling work, play, or your latest creative project, this bag's got your back (and your stuff) sorted.

The Naito Bucket Bag has tubular rivets, which must be set with a tubular rivet peening tool and a (non-rubber!) mallet on a hard surface, such as a slab of stone, metal anvil, or concrete floor. To set the magnetic snap rivet, you’ll need a magnetic snap setter. Finally, to make holes in fabric you’ll need a 3/32” drive punch, which is used with a mallet on a cutting board.

Tubular rivets are much stronger than double-cap rivets. Since the Naito is a sling bag, the strap pulls away from the bag at the attachment point, which makes double-cap rivets unreliable, since they can pop apart when pulled with opposing force.

On the other hand, tubular rivets are made to withstand this force and will stay in place (especially when reinforced with leather on the backside of the fabric). So, in a nutshell, the Naito is designed to stand the test of time!

Please don't substitute double-cap rivets for the tubular ones when making the Naito. Also note: tubular rivets need to be set with a Tubular Rivet Peening Tool and a non-rubber mallet.
